2011 Mamma Mia Cook-off set for Nov. 12

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 12, as we celebrate Daphne’s Italian heritage at the seventh annual Mamma Mia Cook-off. Foodies and friends of education alike will gather from 7-10 p.m. on the lawn at Daphne City Hall (1705 Main Street) for one of the best nights out on the Eastern Shore this year!
The competition will be fierce as the area’s hottest amateur and professional chefs bring out their prize-winning Italian recipes. Enjoy the smooth sounds of the Jubilee Orchestra, shop a first-class silent auction and dine with your friends — all while taking in the latest college football games on large-screen TVs.
Or get in on the fun in an even bigger way and enter a cooking team of your own! Prizes will be awarded by celebrity judges to the winners in four categories — Carne (meat), Senza carne (meatless), Pollo (chicken) and Frutti di mare (seafood). A People’s Choice Award goes to the team that wins the popular vote ($1/ballot) and the team with the most creative display and best presentation will take home the highly coveted Mamma Mia Award. Mamma Mia guests will sample from among 30+ delicious team entries and enjoy two complimentary glasses of wine for the admission price. Additional wine from Vino e Birra and authentic Italian desserts will be available a la carte at $4/serving.
